June flowers

June was a very busy month for my family and me, with some real ups and downs and milestones. There was very little time for creativity and space to just ‘be’. Walking my dear dog is the thing I have to do to maintain my emotional wellbeing. Just being outside restores my soul.

I took my camera with me nearly every day and immersed myself in the beauty around me. May is my favourite month for wildflowers – I love the colours, especially the blues. It feels like the countryside comes really alive and glows. In contrast, June is full of delicate flowers. We found a fairy tale oak tree – with a huge twisty trunk, entwined with dog roses. I have so many ideas in my head and no time to do anything with them right now!

June is a treasure trove for the senses – as well as the things we see around us, there is also the sound of birdsong, especially the skylarks high above, and the scents of meadowsweet and honeysuckle in the lanes and philadelphus in the garden (one of my favourites and a sign of summer for us).

i will be putting the best of these photographs up on my website soon – I am building a page of summer flower photography. These will be downloadable as an artistic resource or for personal use. For commercial use, please contact me. Head to my photography pages for spring flowers and other nature photography.
