My guided meditation this morning:

I have been doing guided meditation every morning for about five years now. I started to help myself get through a difficult time. It has helped me so much with life in general, but also with my creativity. Meditating teaches us to be more aware of our thoughts. It provides a space for us to notice those quieter, more original ideas that might have been cancelled out by louder and more ordinary everyday thoughts.
I thought it was a bit of serendipity this morning when I heard Nayyirah’s quote. I have really battled with my confidence in my work, but now I want to do more with it. Making this website has been the first step. Next I will be adding a shop, where I will be selling prints and greetings cards of my work. Before that, however, I will be having fun creating pieces of art to print from.
As I have been busy raising my children and working part-time, I haven’t had that luxury time to just draw or create something because ‘I feel like it.’ I have just worked on commissions, which is of course, lovely, but it is nice to feel a bit of that freedom to create coming back. It has been hard even to squeeze in a few minutes of yoga here and there.
My family have always been, and always will be, my priority, and with the good feeling that a bit of extra time to myself brings, there is also sadness that my babies aren’t babies anymore! I know I will need to keep busy in the near future!
So, I am thanking all my doubts for their concern, and launching my website today! Not really a risk, but it feels like a brave thing to do for me. I am not very good at putting my work out there, and like most people, also very good at paying too much attention to my very harsh inner critic!
Reading through the testimonials that my customers have kindly written for me has really helped me. It means a lot to me that they took the time to do this. I am always grateful for the support of my family, friends and customers – they are my driving force.
