A little information about me: I am a qualified artist and designer,
with over 20 years experience working in the art and design industry.
I aim to provide an affordable and original art, design and
illustration service. I love working for small businesses especially.
It doesn’t matter to me what size of budget I am working to.
Every project provides me with the opportunity to be creative,
which makes me happy, so I will apply the same enthusiasm
and attention to detail to every piece of work.

Creativity
My creativity lies at the centre of my world. In a way it is part of my family! From as far back as I can remember, I have always drawn or made things.
I studied Graphic Arts and Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, then returned to the South West where I worked for a signwriter for a few years before joining an advertising agency. I loved the creative variety of work involved in my position as a designer for this agency.
Whilst my children were small and I chose to take a break from my career, I continued to use my creativity in every way possible. I designed and made anything from crazy birthday cakes and fancy dress costumes, and supported our children’s school and our community, friends and family with anything that was needed creatively, often for nothing except the pure enjoyment of doing it. My love of animals and nature features a lot in my work (in fact the first painting I sold (for £1 – I was 9!) was of a red squirrel) and I have drawn animal portraits throughout my life.
My favourite media to work with is soft chalky pastels.
I fell in love with these when my artist grandpa gave me a battered old box of pastels when I was at university. They are still going and are the only pastels I work with. I like to mix them with pastel pencils.
Inspiration
I thrive on working in different ways, through a range of media, methods and materials. My passion for design and typography runs alongside my love of drawing and painting, and my favourite projects have usually incorporated both design and illustration.
I have realised that I do not want to be limited by working to a certain style or discipline. I create to suit my client and the brief itself, and go where my imagination and versatility take me in order to solve the problem and communicate their message.
My inspiration comes from my family and our pets, and the natural environment around my home in North Devon. I have to get out in nature every day and breathe in my surroundings.
Being by the sea recharges my batteries and creativity, boosts my confidence in my work and altogether restores my soul. My husband, daughters and friends are wonderful at boosting my confidence in my work, and they make everything I do worthwhile.
This website is a work in progress. It is my journey to build up a new body of work. There are gaps to fill and discoveries to be made; it is not finished as it will hopefully always be growing and changing. This is my intention for it.
